Following his 73rd-minute appearance in Nigeria's 2-1 win over Cape Verde in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, September 7, 2019, Musa had earned his 100th Super Eagles cap.

He joins former captains Joseph Yobo and Vincent Enyeama as the third player in Super Eagles history to reach 100 caps.

The players swiftly surrounded Musa after the game to congratulate him before assistant coach Yobo threw him on his shoulders.

Even though they weren't present, players like Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and William Troost-Ekong congratulated the Super Eagles captain on social media.

Musa will receive a N10 million present from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as a prize for his 100th cap, according to NFF President Amaju Pinnick.

Musa agreed to split the money with his teammates in exchange for their help.

"For me, I'm very proud to reach the 100 cap because its very important to me," Musa said while looking forward to getting more caps with the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) coming.

He also thanked Yobo and Enyeama for their help when he first joined the Super Eagles.

"More are coming; for me, I want to break the record," he also said.

In an international friendly against Kenya in March 2011, he scored the first of his 15 goals for the Super Eagles.

In 2013, the Super Eagles won the AFCON title in South Africa, and the forward was a member of the team.

He has represented Nigeria in two AFCON tournaments and two FIFA World Cups, scoring four goals in each.
