The Federal Government will build national research and technology innovation centers, according to Dr. Ogbonna Onu, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
This is according to a statement issued by Josephine Ademu, the ministry's Head of Press and Public Relations, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Onu made the remarks during a working visit to Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki in Benin City on Monday.
Increased focus on solution-driven research, according to the minister, will aid in the commercialization of scientific research findings.
He urged Nigerians to engage in active local manufacturing of all goods and services.
To suit local demand and stimulate exports, Onu also stated that Nigerian goods, services, and innovations must reach global standards.
In response, Obaseki stated that in order for the government to fulfill its duty, science, technology, and innovation must be embraced by all levels of government (STI).
Obaseki has called for the development of a supportive atmosphere for local inventors.
