John Muchine, a 70-year-old pastor from Christian Worship International Ministries, was found guilty of sodomizing a 17-year-old boy inside his house

The charges were that the Pastor knowingly and unlawfully sodomized a juvenile aged 17 years on several dates between October 2020 and January 16 2021 in Sinambio village, Mpeketoni sub-county, Lamu county, Kenya. "Afterwards, he would reward him with a Ksh20 coin and tell him that if he informed anyone about it, he would murder him," the prosecutors said. He was also charged with committing an indecent act with a kid in violation of section 1(1) of the Sexual Offenses Act No. 3 of 2006.

Muchine was accused of sodomizing a minor of unsound mind in his house and in the bushes on multiple occasions, and in each case, he would instruct him to take off his clothing, lie down on his stomach, apply anointing oil to his buttocks, and then penetrate him. Mpeketoni Resident Magistrate Pascal Nabwana, while ruling on the matter, noted that the minor's claim was backed up by his 10-year-old sibling, who the court described as a "star truthful witness." The victim had warned the brother not to inform anyone about the sodomy ordeals, according to the sibling.

Despite portraying himself as a servant of God, the accused allegedly refused to present his evidence after taking an oath, according to Nabwana. "The accused is found guilty of defilement, contrary to section 8(1) as read with section 8(4) of the sexual crimes act number 3 of 2006, and the accused is thus convicted of the same under section 215 of the criminal process code (CPC)cap 75 of the laws of Kenya," the magistrate stated. In his evidence, the kid claimed that the accused had defiled him multiple times since April 2020, with the most recent incident occurring on January 6, 2021. One of the incidences was the younger brother witnessing the ordeal that took place inside the pastors' home.
