A24's 'You Can See Everything' Expands to 2,600 Theaters, Threatening 'Clayface' for Weekend No. 1

A three-hour documentary about Nathan Fielder and Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is now a genuine box office heavyweight. A24's You Can See Everything expands to roughly 2,600 theaters this weekend after a $15.6 million breakout debut from just 855 locations — the biggest documentary opening in more than 20 years.

The weekday numbers have held firm: the film took about $2.6 million on Tuesday and an estimated $2.3 million on Wednesday, pushing its domestic total past $20 million. Variety reports the documentary could collect $20–25 million in its second frame — within reach of Clayface's $20–30 million projection and potentially enough to take the No. 1 spot, according to TheWrap.

The precedent for this kind of rise is Borat, which opened to $26.8 million from 837 screens in 2006 before expanding to 2,566 screens and $28.2 million in its second weekend. You Can See Everything is the largest opening from fewer than 1,000 screens since then.

Critics are enthusiastic: the film holds a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 99 on Metacritic. Directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim in secret over three years, it follows a skeptical film crew documenting Holmes in the final month before she began her prison sentence. Made for under $10 million, it has already passed the lifetime gross of Won't You Be My Neighbor? to enter the all-time top 10 non-music documentaries.

What happens next depends on weekend walk-up business. If the documentary posts a bigger second weekend than its first, it would be a rarity — and a genuine challenge to the pre-Halloween horror playbook.
