Fontana Unified School District officials, students and staff celebrated the groundbreaking of the district's newest elementary school on September 16, according to the California School News Report. The 63,000-square-foot campus will serve Transitional Kindergarten through sixth grade and is scheduled to open for the 2028-29 school year. Once complete, the school will accommodate up to 800 students. Superintendent Miki R. Inbody said the campus was planned with the whole child in mind, including a multipurpose space designed for school and community performances, a modern library, outdoor learning areas and spaces built for social-emotional learning. Construction workers, teachers, students and administrators joined the September ceremony, where attendees signed a steel beam that will be incorporated into the building's structure. The event opened with the Jurupa Hills High School marching band performing the national anthem, followed by remarks from district leaders and elected officials. Board president Jennifer Quezada said the school reflects a year of careful planning and a commitment to building learning environments that will serve families for generations. The new campus is the second school Fontana Unified has built in two years, following Oak Grove Prep, which opened in August, according to the Fontana Unified School District. District officials say the campus will feature flexible, technology-ready classrooms and outdoor spaces where students can explore and collaborate. For a growing district, the new school is the next chapter in a building boom meant to keep pace with families moving into the area.
