Thousands of London bus passengers could soon face changes to their daily journeys as Transport for London considers plans to withdraw, extend or overhaul several routes. TfL has launched a fresh round of public consultations on proposed changes to bus services across the capital, with some routes facing complete withdrawal and others set to be significantly altered, Brit Brief reports. The headline proposal would see the 415 bus scrapped as the 333 is extended. TfL has proposed extending the 333 from Elephant and Castle to Old Kent Road via the route of the current 415. The 415 currently operates between Old Kent Road and Tulse Hill station, while the 333 operates between Tooting Broadway Station and Elephant and Castle, according to the Evening Standard. The extension of the 333 would introduce new direct links between Old Kent Road and Stockwell, Streatham and Tooting. But the withdrawal of the 415 would mean some passengers lose direct links to destinations they currently reach without changing buses. People travelling between Old Kent Road and destinations between Oval and Brixton, and between Brixton and Tulse Hill, would need to change between buses in future. TfL says the proposals are designed to improve connections and better match passenger demand. However, some residents could lose direct links to destinations they currently reach without changing buses, Brit Brief notes. Londoners have six weeks to respond through TfL's consultation process, while proposals from an earlier round of route reviews are also being assessed. The consultation comes as the transport body continues reshaping the bus network to reflect changing travel patterns across the capital. For commuters on affected routes, the next six weeks offer the only formal window to influence whether the withdrawals and extensions go ahead.
