Toronto Pearson Airport passengers were unable to use UP Express trains throughout the Halloween weekend, as planned construction suspended the airport rail service on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, 2026, according to Metrolinx notices reported by local transit coverage.
Replacement buses operated directly between downtown Toronto and Pearson Airport Terminal 1. Metrolinx confirmed that no UP Express trains ran on either day, affecting passengers travelling between Pearson and Union Station, Bloor, Weston and Mount Dennis. The replacement buses ran between the Union Station Bus Terminal and the airport without stopping at the three intermediate stations.
The final UP Express train from Union Station on Friday, October 30, departed at 11 p.m., earlier than the usual late-night operating schedule. The disruption came during a busy Halloween weekend in Toronto, when major street celebrations and other public transport changes also complicated travel.
The airport train closure coincided with additional GO Transit service adjustments across the Greater Toronto Area. On the Barrie Line, trains did not operate between Downsview Park and Union Station during October 31 and November 1, while Kitchener Line passengers faced service changes, with trains operating only between Mount Pleasant and Mount Dennis. Normal train operations were expected to resume after the scheduled construction period, with additional planned construction weekends later in November and December.
