Davido has submitted his sixth studio album Oriade and several singles for consideration at the 69th Annual Grammy Awards in 2027, joining a wave of Afrobeats stars targeting the upcoming ceremony. According to tooXclusive, the entries were disclosed October 13 via the awards-tracking account The Grammy Guru.
The 13-track album, released July 31, 2026 via Davido Music Worldwide and Sony Music with collaborations including Black Sherif, Mayorkun, FOLA, Leon Thomas and Aya Nakamura, has been entered for Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical) and Best Album Cover. As South South Echoes reports, single submissions include "B4 B4" featuring Mayorkun and FOLA for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance; "Nakupenda" for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance; "Le Show" with Ayra Starr and French Montana for Best African Music Performance; and "I Know Who I Be" for Best Music Video.
These are submissions, not nominations: first-round voting runs October 12 to 22, with official nominees announced November 16 and the ceremony set for February 7, 2027 in Los Angeles. Davido has earned five Grammy nominations across his career.
He is also celebrating 15 years in music with a historic three-night Lagos residency at the National Theatre from December 17 to 19, the first time he brings Oriade to life onstage in his home city, according to Rolling Stone Africa.
The submissions put Davido in elite company. As South South Echoes notes, he joins fellow Nigerian stars Tems, Ayra Starr and Asake in chasing 2027 Grammy recognition as Afrobeats continues its global expansion. The entries were first disclosed by The Grammy Guru on October 13, just as first-round voting opened, with nominees due November 16. And the campaign does not stop at awards season: Rolling Stone Africa reports Davido will celebrate 15 years in music with a historic three-night residency at Lagos' National Theatre from December 17 to 19, the first residency by an Afrobeats artist in Nigeria and the first time Oriade comes to life on a Lagos stage.
