Netflix and Bengali streaming platform Hoichoi have announced a partnership that will take Bengali series to much wider audiences across India. The deal was announced in Mumbai on October 22, 2026, and runs for two years.
Under the agreement, every new Hoichoi series premiering during the period will be available on Netflix in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, alongside its Bengali release on Hoichoi. According to The Daily Star, the partnership will also bring several existing Hoichoi productions to Netflix, including Madam Inspector, Sampurna, Lajja, Eken, Bloodlines, Queens and Parineeta: A Love Story.
The first new release under the deal will be The Cursed Temple of Kauriburi, a folklore-inspired horror series scheduled for November 6. According to Advanced Television, Netflix will add a curated collection of 14 existing Hoichoi titles in total, spanning crime thrillers, detective mysteries, folklore horror, social dramas, courtroom dramas and romance.
The two companies will also work together on original series based on selected Hoichoi stories, with Hoichoi Studios handling production. According to Indian Television, the aim is to offer acclaimed series, new premieres, adaptations and fresh original stories to audiences who do not speak Bengali.
The background helps explain why the deal matters. Hoichoi was launched in 2017, offers more than 2,000 hours of programming and over 100 original productions, and says it reaches more than 250 million Bengalis worldwide. For Netflix, the partnership follows similar licensing deals with French broadcaster TF1 and Brazilian broadcaster Globo, as part of a wider move to add licensed content alongside its own originals.
Viewers can expect the first joint release on November 6, with more titles to follow in the coming months. Further details of the planned adaptations have not yet been announced.
