New details have emerged from one of the year's most romantic celebrity weddings. Vogue has unveiled an inside look at the nuptials of Shang-Chi star Simu Liu, 37, and his wife Allison Hsu, who tied the knot in France on October 3 during a weekend-long celebration.
According to Vogue, the couple returned to Provence, where they got engaged, marrying at the stunning Château d'Estoublon. Hsu told the magazine that from the moment they saw the venue during their search, they knew the south of France would be the perfect location for their dream celebration. She credited an entire community of friends, family and vendors, led by wedding planner Lisa Vorce, with bringing the weekend to life step by step, calling the collaborative planning process the greatest joy of the experience.
The fashion choices carried deep personal meaning. Hsu wore a gown by Nicole + Felicia, a label founded by Taiwanese sisters Nicole and Felicia Chang, a tribute to her heritage, as her parents were born and raised in Taiwan. She told Vogue that wearing a design from what she called a powerhouse Taiwanese sister duo felt like the perfect way to honor her family, moving her parents and sister to tears. Liu, meanwhile, honored his own roots in a look by Asian-Canadian-founded Garrison Bespoke paired with one of his favorite Versace jackets.
JustJared reports that several celebrity guests attended and took part in the weekend's festivities, which stretched across multiple days of dinners, ceremonies and celebrations. Liu and Hsu, together for four years, kept much of their relationship private before their engagement, making the Vogue feature a rare and welcome glimpse into their love story.
The Provence celebration caps a banner year for celebrity weddings across the globe, from Tuscany to Hawaii. For Liu, who rose to international fame as Marvel's first Asian leading man, the wedding marks a personal milestone that fans have celebrated as warmly as any box-office triumph.
