The Minnesota Timberwolves opened their 2026-27 NBA season with a 131-106 road win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night at Kaseya Center. The Timberwolves made 21 threes compared to eight for Miami and held a 52-34 advantage on the boards.

The night was also the regular-season debut of Giannis Antetokounmpo for the Heat, and he delivered 35 points with six rebounds, though he finished minus-11. Bam Adebayo added 15 points with seven rebounds and three steals for Miami, while Davion Mitchell handed out 10 assists.

Minnesota dominated the middle quarters, outscoring Miami 35-27 in the second and 30-22 in the third to take firm control. The Timberwolves played without Donte DiVincenzo.

Both teams start 1-0 and 0-1 respectively, and they meet again on Friday, October 23: Minnesota visits the Orlando Magic at 7 p.m. ET, while Miami hosts the Detroit Pistons at 8 p.m. ET. The Wolves' revamped roster could not have asked for a sharper opening statement.
