Bali has once again been named Asia's Leading Wedding Destination at the World Travel Awards, taking the 2026 title for the seventh time in eight years. According to Indonesia Now, which reported the result on November 2, the announcement was made at the Asia, Oceania and Indian Ocean gala at CROSSROADS Maldives on September 27.
The official World Travel Awards winners list confirms Bali ahead of fellow nominees Cebu in the Philippines, Koh Samui in Thailand and Langkawi in Malaysia. Bali held the title every year from 2019 through 2023, lost it to Cebu in 2024, then reclaimed it in 2025 and defended it in 2026.
According to Indonesia's official tourism promotion, Bali's advantage lies in the range of its venues: couples can marry on a beach at sunset, on cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean, in tropical resort gardens or in the greenery of the Ubud forests. The island also draws couples with its accommodation, event services and atmosphere for guests.
One notable change this year is that Bali lost the separate Asia's Most Romantic Destination title, which it had held for seven consecutive years, to Koh Samui. The wedding destination crown, however, stayed in Bali.
For couples planning a destination wedding, the result reinforces Bali's position as Asia's most established choice, while the rival destinations continue to compete on beaches, resorts and value.
