The federal government is considering referring some medical professionals to the EFCC and the for allegedly illegally receiving N540 million in medical training allowances earmarked for House Officers on residency training in 2020.
The government had accused the managements of some Nigerian Teaching Hospitals of sneaking names of persons who had finished their residency training program into the list of House Officers who would be paid from the medical training budget in 2020.
According to the source, despite promising to reimburse the money, the impacted doctors have failed to do so, making it difficult for those who are scheduled for training to obtain their allowances.
