Apple TV has renewed its critically acclaimed darkly comedic thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed for a second season, the streamer announced October 14, 2026. The series from creator and showrunner David J. Rosen stars Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany and Jake Johnson, according to Apple's press release.
The Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh-rated series follows newly divorced mom Paula (Maslany) as she falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder and youth soccer. Convinced she witnessed a crime — while struggling through a custody battle and an identity crisis — Paula begins her own investigation, one that could unravel a greater conspiracy while holding the keys to rebuilding her family and sense of self. The ensemble also includes Murray Bartlett, Dolly De Leon, Brandon Flynn, Jessy Hodges, Jon Michael Hill, Charlie Hall, Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg and Nola Wallace.
"We are delighted to continue the story of Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed and deeply grateful to Apple and our incredible cast and crew," Rosen said in the announcement. "This is all pretty amazing for a show whose title came from a spam email." A writers' room for the new installment is currently underway, with production scheduled for the first half of 2027, TheWrap reports.
The renewal caps a strong critical run. The series was hailed as "an utterly delicious thriller" and "sharply written, consistently funny and packed with enough twists to keep viewers guessing," with Maslany's shape-shifting central performance singled out — she moves, as one critic put it, "from comic to terror in an instant." The show even drew praise from Stephen King, who called it "even better" than Apple TV's hit horror-comedy Widow's Bay and compared it to Hitchcock.
Season 1 ended July 15 on a cliffhanger: Paula won her case to keep shared custody of her daughter and tracked the conspiracy to powerful New York figures, while a threatening message from an unidentified caller — plus incriminating video from her past — suggested the investigation had opened a more dangerous chapter. The finale also hinted Paula's account of events may not have revealed the whole story, giving Season 2 a rich vein of unreliability to mine.
