Zazie Beetz is going to be a mom. The 35-year-old actress revealed her pregnancy on Tuesday night by baring her growing baby bump on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of her new Apple TV series Nocturne, according to Extra TV.
Beetz hit the red carpet at Regal Union Square with her husband, screenwriter and actor David Rysdahl, who cradled her baby bump as photographers snapped away. The couple got married in 2023 after nine years together, and this will be their first child. Just Jared reports that the series tells the story of Jonah Lynn, played by Liev Schreiber, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective whose quiet new life in a small Pennsylvania town is shattered by a cunning serial killer played by Stephen Graham.
Beetz plays FBI Agent Saga Bauer, Jonah's surrogate daughter, who is sent up against the killer. Co-stars Liev Schreiber and Stephen Graham were also at the premiere, along with Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Gary Carr and Poorna Jagannathan. The 10-episode crime drama makes its global debut on Apple TV on Friday, October 30, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through December 25.
The Atlanta and Joker star kept her pregnancy under wraps until the premiere moment, making the red carpet her official announcement stage. With a gripping thriller hitting streaming and a new baby on the way, Beetz is stepping into a brand-new chapter both personally and professionally.
Beetz has spoken in past interviews about wanting to keep her personal life private, making the red-carpet reveal all the more striking. The Deadpool 2 and Atlanta star chose Hollywood's brightest stage — a premiere for her own leading role — to share the news on her own terms.
With Nocturne set to be one of Apple TV's biggest fall launches, the timing gives Beetz a double celebration: a major new series and a major new family milestone. Fans flooded social media with congratulations within minutes of the first red-carpet photos appearing online.
