In Ondo State, gunmen have kidnapped 18 tourists. The victims were kidnapped on Wednesday night in the state's Akoko South East Local Government Area along the Ifira-Akoko/Idoani road.
The abductors allegedly fired gunshots into the air to intimidate the passengers before abducting them and transporting them to a nearby woodland.
On Thursday, Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Outfit, codenamed Amotekun, confirmed the incident to Channels Television.
However, Adeleye stated that 14 of the casualties had been rescued by agency personnel, with efforts to rescue the remaining victims continuing.
The incident has yet to be confirmed by the authorities.
