FX Renews American Horror Story for Season 14 Ahead of Season 13 Finale

FX has officially renewed American Horror Story for a 14th season, ordering the pickup on October 20, 2026 — nine days before the Season 13 finale airs. According to Deadline, which first reported the renewal, the decision extends the long-running horror anthology well beyond the conclusion of its current season.

The timing is notable. Season 13, the franchise's biggest reunion to date, is still airing its final episodes, with the finale scheduled for October 29. The renewal arrives before the season ends, signaling that the network made its decision while viewing momentum was still strong.

Season 13 reunited a large ensemble of performers from across the show's history, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Emma Roberts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the season recorded the biggest four-day streaming launch for any Ryan Murphy series on Hulu and Disney+, and appeared in Nielsen's streaming top ten during its first two weeks.

The renewal is the show's first in nearly seven years. FX previously renewed American Horror Story for three additional seasons back in 2020, which carried it through the current installment. There had been speculation that Season 13 could conclude the series; this order answers that question.

No premiere date, theme, cast or storyline has been announced for Season 14. Series creator Ryan Murphy, who created the anthology with Brad Falchuk, has said he would like to keep making the show indefinitely and has spoken with The Hollywood Reporter about exploring an international version of the format.

With the renewal, American Horror Story extends its record as FX's longest-running hourlong series and will likely push past 150 episodes when the new season airs. The franchise has earned more than 100 Emmy nominations and 17 wins across its run.
